Peer Mentoring Program

As a commencing student, you have access to a peer mentor to help you settle into your studies

A peer mentor can

  • Inform you of the support and services available on campus
  • Provide advice on the services available on campus; what to do and where to go
  • Share study tips
  • Help you to establish a social and academic network
  • Facilitate your transition into university life

Who is a peer mentor?

  • They are likely to be a student doing the same degree as you
  • They have already successfully completed their first year of study
  • They know their way around the University
  • They are willing to give up their time to share their tips with you

How do you access a peer mentor?

  • You should be allocated a peer mentor through your School-based mentor program

If you are not allocated a mentor, you can access one through a centrally-run mentor program offered by the Transition Office

  • Send an email to the coordinator, Dr Sandra Egege to say you would like a mentor
  • State what degree you are studying and any other preference (ie gender, age)*
  • Your mentor will contact you to arrange a time to catch up

*We will try to allocate according to your preference but it will depend on the mentors available

Good luck with your studies!
